At Dad"s old garage there"s an old metal New Idea Farm Equipment sign, about 6 feet long by 2-1/2 feet high. It"s getting rusty, and I"m wondering if I"d ruin its value if I had it repainted. Originally it was green [about the shade of green used on Oliver tractors], orange [pretty close to Allis Chalmers orange] and white. It"s not a porcelain or powdercoat finish.
I"m thinking that if it was spray painted, using fine-line tape for masking between the colors, it might look like it did when they moved it to its current location 47 years ago...and it might look sweet hanging in my garage. But I don"t want to ruin any collectors" value, should I die of snakes in my boots anytime soon.
