Rock Island plow cast iron seat

I just picked up this cast seat, with those words cut out in the seat and a star on each side. I'd like to think it was original but the casting edges in some areas are still sharp like they were new. It is an exact duplicate though with correct mounts and a very heavy piece. Do people go to the trouble to reproduce such things? Anyway, it got me interested in the "Rock Island Plow Co." anybody know anything about them or have input on the seat?
