Hi Harry, The attached photo may not be quite what you are looking for but may give you some ideas. The tractor was mine and was refurbished for the second time just before it was sold in our sale. The carrying tube is as far as I can remember 4" square and is welded to a 1/2" plate attached under the front axle. The main weight tube is I think 12" square. It is sealed at one end and has a shutter door at the other. It was filled with scrap bits of steel, anything that would weigh. It was retained in place by a single bolt and would lift off easily. The hitch at the front had a 1" hole and was used mainly for shifting our bale elevator and the occasional trailer. The main tube is probably 3/8" thick and the carrying tube probably 1/4". We made a number of grill guards from 1 1/2"x 1/2" flat strip. The guard in this case was bolted to the tube. I'm pleased? to say that whilst in an accident one of my guards went through the side of a concrete garage without damage to the grille or bonnet (hood). Hope this is of some help.
