Lloyd To remove mt 8N steering wheel I do the following; Use penetrating oil first.(which you have done) Remove the acorn nut and then put it back on 3-4 turns. Attach a small gear puller with a small hex nut (like a 10-24) placed between the centering nipple on the bottom of the threaded shaft on the puller and the top of the acorn nut to avoid damaging the acorn nut. The acorn nut is left on to avoid damaging the threaded end of the hollow steering shaft. It has never failed to work for me. FWIW
