There are several aquatic vegetation cutters on the market, are relatively cheap, and work great without putting chemicals in your pond. I buy most of my commercial aquatic equipment from a supplier in Arkansas, however, the weed cutter I chose came from a specialty aquatic weed control vender on E-Bay for around $100.00. Actually, a few weeds growing in the pond will give minnows and small fish a place to hide and keep the food supply in balance. You had 2 good pieces of advice - only cut a portion of the pond at once because the decaying vegetation does use up oxygen. Also, having a life jacket or boat cushion available is a basic (for most people).
