The last planned vacation I went on was the first year I was married to my first wife. We went to Bardstown KY and then on to Mammoth Cave. Stayed three night at the cave in cabins. was real nice. It was our belated honeymoon. I was at the end of basic training and was going to be in Fort Campbell for training. That would have been in August of 1967.
After that for the next ten years I was away in the service. Always spent the leave I got at home. Then we had kids/jobs/chores and never seemed to go any where other than a day with the family some where.
We had a trip planned to Hawaii for the winter of 1995-96. We did not get to go She was diagnosed with cancer in May of 95. She was too sick to go that winter because of chemo. She was dead the fall after that. I always regretted that. I have seen many things on this planet. She never was out of five states. I hope the man upstairs has her seeing all she wants. Mighty fine woman. Way too good for me.
