Just drove west along the Rte 90 last week, heading to sons graduation out in Minnesota. Was Looking at the Canal and saw all the gates wide open and no channel markers out. I did not realize it was shut down for the winter (just never occured to me). We got the son successfully graduated out in Minnesota and are heading back north to Maine but am waiting for the wife to wake up so am writing this from the hotel room out in Watertown, N.Y.. This has been a great trip. I saw a few fields planted and many being worked, but I bet 40% of the un worked were still too wet. I guess I should have been taking pictures as we went along but I drive and the wife is navigator... better that the GPS too! Cal

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
