When we were growing up we had a golden lab. He was very protective of our Mother. If Dad or any of us boys were home, anyone could come or go around the house. But if Mom were there alone he would not let anyone out of their car. If someone came to visit and we were not there she had to go out side and hold him till they got in the house. He was member of the family we all loved him. One quick story. Went dove hunting Dad my two brothers, dog and Me in a station wagon right near a cow pasture. When the hunt was over everybody back to the car loading our stuff. The dog cuts across the corner of the pasture finds a very fresh runny pile. By this time everyone is ready to go and start calling him to get in the car. he looks at us and takes off in the opposite direction goes 30 or 40ft.Then comes running back and slides through the pile on his side. Gets up and does the same thing on the other side. Then he proudly comes trotting up to the car wanting to get inside to go home. We made him run behind the car for about a mile to get to a cousins house to wash him off.He was quite a character. Ron
