You want the twine six inches apart on the bale right?????? Well think about it the bale has to turn a complete turn for every twine wrap. (divide by two with double twine arms) If you want to maintain the six inch spacing then you can only run the PTO faster to turn the bale faster. If you want a faster tie then set the twine spacing further apart. That makes fewer wraps/turns the bale has to make therefore faster bale time.
If your time is correct, then the forty seconds to tie the bale is pretty fast for a twine baler. I WILL NOT TWINE TIE bales any longer because of the tyeing time issue. In corn stalks I can bale one every minute with mesh wrap. With twine it takes 2 1/2 minutes. SO Do I want to make 55-60 bales each hour or 20-24 bales each hour???? Solution is no more twine tied bales.
Also if you put the twine further apart than 6-8 inch you may as well just dump them without any twine on them. They will look like crap anyway.
Shorter time to complete the bale is the main reason mesh wrap is taking over in serious hay making areas. Even if it cost more if you can get 50% faster baling times then the hay save pays for the mesh wrap pretty fast.
