Actually I gave them a ride in the mini van (not to hot, not to cold - no wind) for that very reason. My wife didn't like it but her car got detailed after the fact so it was actually a LOT cleaner an hour after the calves were unloaded than it was an hour before I left. I put plastic down then a couple big heavy shipping blankets.
