Ford had a camshaft problem with those 1954 Fords. They were wearing out the cam lobes during the first 12k miles. We had a small mobile field dynamometer made from an F8 Ford truck in 1954 and it had the 279cid engine and we never had any problems with that engine. They still have that vehicle even though it isn't used anymore. Hal PS: Here's a picture of the Heavy Field Dynamometer with twin Ford Gan engines rated at 500 hp each. Each engine had twin 4 barrel carburetors.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
