Yesterday my wife and I attended an annual University of Nebraska Retiree's Luncheon at the Embassy Suites on the west edge of Omaha. (My wife is the retiree in the family).
Anyway, my wife used to work with, and yesterday we sat at the same table with, a lady who is co-owner of the Starlite Ballroom west of Wahoo, Nebraska. The Starlite is a good sized dance hall long known for polka dances, and a place where Big Joe filmed a lot of his films for the Big Joe Polka Show until they shut him off and threw him out for not paying what he'd agreed to for the use of the facility. Apparently he's better at running off at the mouth than he is at putting his money where his mouth is and paying what he owes.
This lady was saying that RFDTV itself will shortly spend four days at the Starlite bringing in popular polka bands and filming them for what is now known as the RFDTV Polka Fest.
Anyone who is seriously into polka music will have to admit that RFDTV's Polka Fest has been rather lame since it started. Maybe things are looking up.
