The only thing bad on the JD 1010 is the sleeve deck engine. The hydraulics have a PTO top mounted pump that works very well as it is the same as the JD 40/420/430 used.
The sleeve deck is available from JD again. it is $650 dollars. They went up to more than $900 and then where not available for a few years.
I have owned a JD 1010 RS since 1973. It gets used all of the time in the summer. Great for the garden and raking hay. Many of the guys on here that want a small piddle tractor should look at a JD 1010. They are a completely different deal than a JD 2010. The JD 2010 had the sleeve deck motor and a junk hydraulic system that almost never worked.
