Could have been a stray spark flying into an open bunghole. A barrel with flammable vapors should never have been in a school shop, but it's too late now. A young man with the whole world ahead of him paid the price.
I had an incident where a spark found a five gallon pail of lacquor thinner that I forgot to put the cap back on. The spark flew clear across the shop and found it's mark in the opening. Didn't explode but it did make a big WHOOFF. Now my paint supplies are inside a closed cabinet with the lids on but I had to get some common sense scared into me first. Jim

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
