In prior house, we had bottom-of-line GE that outlasted us - still running fine when we moved after 15 years. Built a new house and thought we HAD to have a GE. Big mistake - "they don't make them like they used to". It lasted about 5 yrs. Needed new pump which was going to cost $300+. Replaced it with a 'better' Sears Kenmore with stainless interior and it has been better, but has had to be worked on several times - by me and by repair man. It's 10 years old now and we're nursing it along. Have been checking Consumers Reports and watching sales. Probably will go with a Bosch or whatever similar price-range brand has the best sale deal going on at the time it finally craps out. Our big box stores run a different sale every week, cycling thru the brands. Sometimes free delivery/installation, sometimes 12 months no interest. (I'm a fan of "free money", so prefer that option.)
