Rick,
I think it probably depends on how much hay you're going to put up, how much money you have to invest in the tedder, and whether or not you have remote hydraulics.
I have a two-basket Tonutti brand tedder that I pull behind my 1973 Ford 2000 tractor. It doesn't even know that the tedder is attached. Although I've never tried it, I'm condifent that the tractor could handle a four basket.
I believe that most four basket tedders have hinges that allow the two outer baskets to fold up for transport. I would imagine that some or all of them have remote hydraulic cylinders to fold them up (but I don't really know that since I've never used a four basket tedder).
I do everything by myself, so I only cut about 3 acres at a time (usually around 200 bales), so my little tedder is fine for my operation. It usually takes about an hour or an hour and a half to ted what I cut. I put up around 20 acres of hay, two cuttings each year.
I bought my tedder in like new condition about 5 or 6 years ago for $750.00.

If it would just start when I turn the key, then I would use it more often. In addition to a bad case of old age, most of the tractor's original electrical system was simply too unreliable to keep. The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
