Though not TAPS, the song linked below is considered the most popular "soldiers song" of the 20th century. It was recorded in over 20 languages and listened to and loved by soldiers on both sides on all fronts in WWII.
There are literally dozens of versions of this wonderful song available on the internet. I have linked to an English version by Vera Lynn, which is one of my favorites but I invite you to listen to it in the original German by Lale Andersen (1939) even if you do not speak or understand German. I suspect that you will find it haunting, as do I.
