If anyone does not have a/any hobbies while they're working, when they retire they'll be even more bored. They'll work until the boss forces them to retire and then "dim lights and soft music". I worked 42 years and officially retired at 62 1/2 (9 years ago). (Had a buyout the last 16 months which was like winning the lottery without buying a ticket.)Been busier since then than ever..... and enjoying it more than ever! One can sit and rot or rust out and be bored stiff (no pun intended) or one can be busy and wear out but be very contented and happy about their life. I've chosen the latter route and wouldn't change anything if I could. I've been overweight all my life but after loosing 38 pounds I weigh today what I weighed graduating from high school. Another 14 pounds and I'll weigh a svelte 200. I say that to say this. Nothing is easy if it's difficult.... mind over matter be it loosing weight, staying busy, you name it. My last weeks adgenda: went to Joplin, MO and cleaned/raked yards all day (what a total disaster there, God bless those folks), finished a couple woodcarvings to take the next day to Katy Days in Parsons,KS, spent a great day at the festival, went to wife's family reunion at Pomme de Terre Lake in MO, worked on a tractor transmission/got parts, mowed my lawn (about 3 acres),met with financial advisor/tax lady and finished the day off putting up a 10' x10' shelter for our welcoming/ collector at our tractor club grounds for our show this weekend. Somewhat varied but I say ,"Don't get in a rut!" Also,I say, "Give to others (without thought of reimbersment) if you really want to get paid back.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
