As DeltaRed indicates, you're gonna have a problem. That said, there are at least two or three versions of those IH 4-row cultivators, so your problems may vary from small to significant. The front bolster of the 400 (and late SM models) is less rounded on the front corners than that of the M, and have a vertical hole in the front corners. The right and left gangs of the cultivators probably hinge on a pin that drops into those holes. To fit on the M, a bracket is required. It is a cast bracket, and bolts to the frame rails and front bolster. It has a vertical pin in the front of it that hinges the cultivator units and also has a big eyebolt that locks them in place. I'm pretty sure those brackets can even be reversed to hang 4- row units on the front of an H. If you can find a set of those brackets, you'll likely be in business! If someone can provide a picture, you can probably weld up something that will work. You'll probably also need the bracket that bolts through the two holes in the upper part of the grill and into the top portion of the front bolster of the M. Sometime in the Super M series, the upper portion of the bolster changed and the cultivators bolted through two larger holes in the grill.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
