Yep, nowdays, not spending money means not buying gasoline, so don't go too far too often, decided to cut the cord with the last 'professional', who did as much to my 38-55 Marlin as the machine shop did to my diesel, nothin'. Atleast no money spent with him either, and I have another cool project! Me fixing the lever without ruining it. But since the storms, been getting into housecleaning, in a big way. Getting a truckload of all kinds of stuff to donate to the tornado families, clothes, kitchenware, maybe some furniture, stuff that was going to go in a tag sale or scrounger freinds that come around. And you really think about what you really need, and if the next one hit here, what good will all this stuff do anyone then? House has a full basement... but to be practical with 'important stuff'... the trains.. or atleast part of the layout, might have to go. So go throw your wife's stuff out of your basement and make room for more trains. They say cleaning and giving stuff away makes you feel good.... feels more like picking out your own coffin.....

I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned.
