Run engine until warm, shutoff and drain gas tank, then fill gas tank with diesel fuel, start engine and let diesel get into carb and finally foul plug to stop. This will coat valve stems, cylinder walls with light oil, some will get into crankcase. When you want to start it again, change engine oil, drain fuel tank and replace with fresh gas, drain carb float bowl, new spark plug and crank a few times. On small engines using diesel you might have a couple gaskets and seals that might be suscepible to swelling from the diesel. This is relatively quick way for storage prep, was used a few times for motorcycles that got caught in first storm of winter and needed to be parked in back yard or corn crib corridor with tarp, some garden tractors. Smoke a little but most of them I knew about got on road quick next spring or 2+ years later when owner got out of service (or prison in couple cases). RN
