The primary reasons for slow cranking: Modified engines Advanced static timing (kicks back) Low charge in the battery Bad battery Draging starter Poor brush contact in starter Shorted field or armature in starter Small wires (OOgauge needed on a 6volt system) poor connections at any location Some of these are easy to check and fix, take them in the order of easy to hard, and somewhere in the process your tractor will spin like new. If it is a modified engine, 12 volts may be the only answer. Two larger capacity 6volt bats parallel to one another will crank harder. Jim
