Well, you can not lie. It WILL come back and bite you somehow, someway.
As an engineer I was "dismissed" from my 1st job (mostly due to the lack of experience/smarts on my part and company disorganization on theirs which didn't make a good combo for a rockie). Anyway, that was always hard to explain but I had to put it in the best light and explain the situation and what I did and what I learned... that's it don't go on any further than the basics. 14 years later I was down-sized (with 70 others and their closing the site) so that one was easy to explain, with some experience and if you're worth a snuff as an engineer you'll be fine. There is a demand for GOOD engineers! We've actually had trouble finding GOOD ones. You'll need to present yourself confidently but NOT cocky. Stay off facebook. I've not hired guys due to their facebook accounts and they didn't have anything "bad" on there. Even positive stuff can give too much info about someone's personality.
