I have a 93 E350 that gave me a lot of grief. I changed sensors, ignition switch, etc with intermitant results. Sometimes it worked, ran fine, and sometimes it would die at a stop light. It needed to be towed a few times.
The one common clue to "no start" was when I'd turn the ignition switch on, the dash lights would come on going through the usual prestart check of all systems. When it would not go through this sequence, no amount of cranking would do a bit of good. Finally in desperation, I borrowed the main computer from a buddy's F250 of same year and engine. Problem solved!!
It turns out that in the computer box, there can be some corrosion between the circuit board and the 39 pin connector. The corrosion made the intermittant condition depending on damp weather, temps, and pure ornery bad magic.
