Most of hogs in large operations Great Whites or similar. For a slightly smaller breed with a bit less marbling you would look for Duroc bloodlines. Hampshires are still used for some operations, used to be a cross of Hampshires and Great Whites got a lean meat, fast growing hog. Poland Chinas used by many of the smaller operations farrow to finish- the spring farrow on pasture organic farmers use them because of mothering instinct and milk capacity for the fairly large litters. Danish Landrace might be available- long body and good bacon. For your own locker and eating-- might find someone using the old 3 way rotation of Hamp/Duroc/Poland China or Great White/Yorkshire. Some cheap feeders somtimes found as mix of pet Potbelly sow and whatever boar was available. South West Wisconsin has some feral hogs running around, trappers sometimes get them and give away the little ones- mix of various breeds. RN
