Sputtering Super A

While doing some heavy pushing with the blade my Super A developed a sputtering loss of power. The spark and timing checked out O.K. I put a new needle valve and seat in the Carter carb. and cleaned and devarnished inside the carb, blew out the air mixture valve, drained the gas tank, cleaned out the sediment bowl and gasline. It still sputters. The idle is smooth but any load on the engine produces the loss of power. What did I miss?
