The reason I said that is because there are thousands and thousands upon thousands of tandems still running around here with Dayton spokes. They are basically the gold standard in heavy vocational trucks. Budds are what has largely gone the way of the dodo bird. Hub pilot has largely cornered that market... and it's a better wheel system in my opinion PROVIDED you remove the wheels periodically. If you don't... aluminum wheels tend to oxidize to the hubs, particularly with aluminum hubs.
As far as the mobile home stuff goes... the tires probably are the biggest factor. I had one remaining 8.00-14.5 on my trailer and I could not keep a tire on it. Not even for 1000 miles. Bought a new dexter hub and installed a bolt on wheel... problem solved. Now it's got a proper LT tire on it.
