I finally got some time to look at my neighbors 4040 which stayed engaged last winter and burned up his starter. This spring he got the starter rebuilt and put it on and it did the same thing .I brought my digital meter and had him turn the key on ,the starter ran on and the TRACTOR DID NOT START . I had 8 volts on the starter coil and 10 volts on that battery and 11 volts on the other battery. It has two 12 volt batteries wired in parallel . He called me today and said he put on a new cross over wire but it did the same thing, plus he said he is gonna switch out the neutral switch which he got also. I would appreciate any helpful advise again , he is wanting to mow his field when we get it going. Thanks Mike
