Its not hoarding,its common sense.Im using up the last of the bar oil I paid 2.38 a gallon for.I have a good potato crop coming along and will store as much as I can.Didnt grow enough last year.Got tired of buying lousy store potatoes.I buy lumber ahead of need.Nails are bought in 50 pound boxes because it was a 12 mile trip for many years.I used to keep a years extra hay in the barn.I had to use it two years ago.We had limits on how much gas we could buy during the first fake oil shortage.I filled every thing that would hold gas to make sure I got my hay in.The primer shortage taught many reloaders a valuable lesson.The bible tells us we should buy oil for our lamps before we need it.I have a sawmill now but still buy spruce for picnic tables,not much spruce on my place.I buy picnic table bolts in march or april because my best supplier will will be out of the size I need in June and July.I pay 15 cents each by the pound.Lowes and HD get 54 cents each for the same bolt.The 2 big stores are not the best place to buy.Am I hoarding because I buy in quantity ahead of actual need?I am using common sense.I keep 2 gallons or kerosene for my lamps.A woman called the corner store when an ice storm hit.She wanted candles and flashlite batteries.They sold out fast in a few hours.
