I am a professional structural engineer and I am astounded by what I discover being built without permits and oversight. Unfortunately I have been involved in number of insurance reviews of collapsed structures. None involved serious injury or loss of life.
None professionals do not understand load combinations and how dangerous they are. Generally the catastrophic combinations do not occur and the constructor of a poorly designed building fortunately does not experience the loss of a structure or personnel. To bad a few of the respondants to your posts refuse to learn anything.
