I use yahoo also for the virus protection. I haven't got a problem like you mention. Now and then, I get something but usually tied in to opening a forwarded mail someone sent. I made a folder and a rule to put all FWD mails into it and I delete them without opening and I don't forward males without getting rid of all the junk and removing the FWD from the subject (sometimes I forget and hit forward, but not often).
You've got curious and clicked on something somewhere. I think yahoo may have an ad or pop up blocker also.
