I remember as a kid, the logo for Bush Hog, the razorback, was kind of iconic (cool), just like Wolf's Head and other similar things we sold or used in our dealership.
It's hard to directly connect analogies to the label conveniently placed on something like this, somehow it gained popularity, though rotary mower was also a familiar term, we had a ford dealership and I am sure that is why, seeing their first attempt was pictured above.
Marketing wise, it worked out well for bush hog as a registered trade mark, like I mentioned before, their logo immediately stuck in my mind, when I was a youngster, we used to sell bush hog too.
A similar reference would be CAT, there are many who call a track type tractor a "CAT" even if not a Caterpillar tractor.
Funny how things work with terminology and popularity. My favorite brewery, Harpoon over in Windsor VT. and Boston,MA. offers several seasonal beers, one is an Irish red ale, which was first called Hibernian Ale. There is no question as to the quality of this particular ale, but sales of it were not doing well regardless. Ironically, a name change to "Celtic Ale" is all it took to boost sales, according to a brewery employee and one of the owners whom I spoke with. Generically an Irish red ale is offered as such by many brewers, just like rotary mowers, marketing and convenient terminology, with one manufacturer that has an iconic trademark from it.

It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
