When I was growing up here in north Louisiana the sound of the female quail's 'Purr-r-icha, Purr-i-cha' and the male's answering 'Bob-Bob-White!' were familiar and common components of the summer pageant. In the fall these birds provided many great hunting opportunities for me, my dad and his dogs.
Unfortunately, it has been more than 20 years since I have heard or seen a quail in the wild. Damn fire ants have wiped them out, along with other species of ground-nesting birds.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
