Gamo makes a .22 pellet gun that shoots #12 shot charges in a plastic sleeve that is named the "Viper". It works 100% so far on mice at about 20' and sparrows at 30". I don't know how effective it is beyond that. Not much I would guess. Unfortunately the sleeved shot pellets are about $9.00 for 25, but I don't think they will damage barn tin if its over 20' away.
