Well, I didn't realize that the quail situation was that bad all over! The N.C. Wildlife Commission and the Dept. of Agriculture have been working for several years to try to figure how to get the population built up. I know that there are several different types of quail, around here we had Bobwhite quail. There used to be quite a few around here but I haven't heard one in about three or four years. The last time I heard one was in the spring and I guess it was a male looking for a mate. He was in the woods behind the house for three or four days, I would frequently hear his "Bobwhite" call, but obviously he did not find what he was looking for and moved on. I sure do miss them.
