At least you know how to fix it yourself! Basic same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago, but neither of my drain snakes did any good. Went to Home Despot to get a bigger snake and spotted a handy-dandy little rubber gizmo that goes on the end of a water hose. When you run the rubber bulb down into the drain and turn on the hose, the rubber expands to seal the drain and water pressure pushes the clog on down the line (hopefully). Worked like a champ for me and cost less than 10 bucks if I recall. Never got to use my new bigger snake, but I kept it anyway. I used to see Dad run the water hose down the sink drain, stuff rags around it to seal the drain and he"d have one of us run turn the hose on, but this rubber gizmo is pretty cool. Good luck.
