Latest update, they were found in Utah. They had no intentions of going across country initially. She wanted to leave home and felt she would not be allowed. They just went to Nags Head and were returning when they got word the police were after him. Not understanding why, they ran. They didn"t contact anyone because she felt her parents would come after her, not because Ryan kidnapped her or wouldn"t allow her to make any calls, etc. I can"t say I would have done differently if it were my daughter. It was bad enough it was my son. Even though it was not the way to handle it, in his way, he felt he was protecting her. All the things posted about his past were true but blown way out of proportion. His involvement with "drugs" was limited to pot, not a gamit of drugs though I don"t approve of pot either. Yes, I sent him to Carolina Spring Academy in error because of the pot and attitude after his grandfather died. It was a seriously bad mistake. I did my research but long story, I missed alot of things about that place and it was the counselors that helped him run away! Later he was diagnosed with depression. He is not a "prince charming", true, but neither is he the bad punk he was being portrayed either. He said he knew she was his responsiblity and would make sure she was taken care of before himself and he continues to offer to buy her a plane ticket any time she wants to go home.REAL BAD KID, huh? Bottom line, they are both ok which is what is most important.
