it is overkill but i rake all our hay with my 1655. it is also a great baler tractor and good for mowing hay if you use a haybine. they dont bump around as much as other old tractors in my opinion and the 3 speed is an excellent feature. IMHO there isnt a better haying tractor than a 1655.
price wise i think you can expect to pay over 7 or 8k if you want one in really nice condition.
