Ever have a day when it would have been better just to stay at home. Sunday was like that for me. I went to the Almelund MN Threshing Show where I had my 1949 MH Pony displayed. I had left the trailer there the day before. I hooked up, but found one of the tires on the trailer was flat, but since I had battery operated compressor, I decided I would just pump it up before I left. I then went to the Pony and someone must have tried to steal the headlights, because the bolts were loosened and the lights were turned backwards, scratching the paint and breaking the electric wires. All well, I tightened them up and set up for the day. I left for a bit to see a few friends and when I came back, my straw hat was missing. Then sometime during the day, I lost my camera, and no one had turned it in by the time I was ready to leave. Icing on the cake, I stupidly forgot to clamp down the trailer to the ball, so when I loaded up, the tongue of the trailer went up in the air. Luckily, I had the chains on and it only went up about a foot, but it still scared me to death and of course everyone else loading came over to give me a hard time. Once home I had to tell the wife about the camera, case and sd card I had lost. Nice ending of the day was getting the wheel off the trailer (rusted tight).
Now for the good part (I mean it). Monday I went to the Alemelund website and sent an email to the first contact on the list tell him about the camera. Two minutes later I got an email, “I got it, how do you want to get it.” My faith in man has been restored. I don’t know who turned it in, but thank you. Also, the Almelund MN Threshing Show is a great show, put on by good people. I am impressed every year by the amount of work they do to improve it. Thanks for the hard work you guys do.

Today's Featured Article - Grain Threshing in the Early 40's - by Jerry D. Coleman. How many of you can sit there and say that you have plowed with a mule? Well I would say not many, but maybe a few. This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
