You can often save yourself a lot of money having a qualified mechanic check out your vehicle before you try a bunch of random repairs suggested by people who don't do that for a living.A reputable shop will usually be able to diagnose a problem for about an hour charge, a bit more on some problems. Talk to them first and set a limit. I have seen several vehicles after they have been to 3 or 4 other places and had unsuccessful repair attempts and spent a bunch of money on a problem because they thought the dealer was too expensive. Funny because every time we actually fixed the problem for less than the other guy charged to not fix it.
