Just recently saw ALOT of heavy equipment like dozers, loaders, haul trucks, excavators, graders, etc go to a local scrap yard after the owner died. In fact the majority of the stuff has already been taken in, cut up, and gone out, but I'm told items are still trickling in. One item I know for a fact that was taken in was a D9 CAT sized Komatsu dozer with a three shank ripper. It had been sitting for years and I had actually inquired with the owner about a sell price since I had a customer looking. Not even knowing if it ran after so many years of sitting he wanted both arms and a log for the thing....so it was left setting. What i heard was they spend a few hours and gave it a little TLC to get it running, pulled it on a trailer, and took it about 1/2 mile down the road and unloaded it at the scrap yard......Yep, running dozer that size scrapped out.....makes me sick. I've heard the owner was the kind of guy that would basically buy a new machine of one went down and the repair wasn't something really ovbious or wasn't something that could be handled like 'right now'. Have a friend that had looked at a grader that they told him just needed a new head as the one on the engine was cracked and leaking. Yep, you guessed it, the grader went to scrap too.....

It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
