A rod bearing kit is only $68.10. So find your current problem first.
The knock you are having could very well be a loose rod bearing cap. It was a common issue. Just drop the oil pan and look You might just need a new set of rod bearing and a little tune up to be good to go.
The fact of the matter is that the Long is just not a good investment in the long Haul. If you want to up date. Still check out your problem. If it is a cheap fix then trade it in on a better tractor. Which in that size would be a newer MF or Ford.
