We've sprayed with gas and other hornets spray killers over a period of one week. Check on them the next day and they are still swarming around the nest. The nest is inside a tree not exposed. You can see the opening of the nest in the hole in the tree. I have been able to get the spray, both gas and hornet killer directly into the nest hole but it just isn't killing them. I like the idea of a bug zapper - it's an idea and will try. Can't use a torch as the tree is located in our hedge row and don't need a fire - although it would get rid of the hornets. But after getting through Irene I don't need any more trees and debris to clean up. Appreciate all the feedback. I really don't want to lose our lilac bushes - they are over 20 yrs old if not older.
