Most of the discipline problems in the school today can be traced back to the parents. Teacher and principals have no authority to enforce anything. Our schools have a "no cell phone" policy. Parents will tell teachers that their 6th grade kid *needs* to have a cell phone with them. Why does any 6th grader *need* a cell phone? If the teachers don't look the other way, the parents go right to the principal. If they don't get what they want from the principal, they go to the superintendent. Then to the school board. The teachers have no authority because the parents won't let them have it. Feels great to tell off the school administrator in front of your kid because you got some gripe with the way things are done, doesn't it? Well think about what you're teaching the kids about respect for rules and authority when you do that. Now do you still wonder why there's no discipline in the school? Thank the parents for that...
