Sure, hay is more expensive this year but that's the risk you take in the cattle business. Both hay and cattle are commodities, and prices can fluctuate wildly depending on supply, demand, economic trends, the phase of the moon, how much whiskey the traders drank the night before... and you're at the mercy of it all.
I just don't think it's fair to you to lose out on potential income to help out people who in reality aren't any worse off than you are.
