Hayray, how big of solar panel would you need to let the pump run continuously? If it ran a "small stream" continuously then you could put a drain in the tank back to the pond. It would eliminate that pick and pile of ice you got there. I set up two big rubber tire tanks below a spring. The overflow from the first tank fills the second....never stops running and never freezes. Then of course, I was blessed to have a spring to do this with. Only in extreme drought does the spring ever quit flowing.
