And even if it is not a reserve, you can put a 'max bid', it stays hidden, but if someone outbids you, it will instantly outbid him, time after time till the max you entered. Then e bay will email you that that wasn't enough, you have to put a higher max, or lose the item. I used it as an 'anti sniper' tool. Let's say you really want something bad. It is worth--50 bucks? you max bid 60. Hopefully no one thinks it is worth 59, but the bids are-you at $50.00, if they snipe at... $50.01, the last second- you still got it... but you better want it... and in the records, 'you' were never outbid, it took me awhile to realize how it worked too.....
