Gays Mills Wisc. has their apple festable this weekend..decent flea market at the fairgrounds, and many others down in the business area of town.
Directly acroos the river is Guttenberg, with locks and dam operations. North of Guttenberg has a silica sand mine that can be viewed from the river, and probably not so much from the land side. That is in Clayton Iowa, they also load barges of corn and beans there.
Cabelas is on the North end of PRARIE DU CHINE IF THAT TRIPS YOUR TRIGGER, Even if you are not into hunting it is worth a look see.
Froelich (Guiard Iowa) has their foder-all days this week end also---farm / antique show. This is where the first JD tractor was made, it is West of Prarie Du Chine Wisc. probably 8-10 miles. Spook Cave is within a rocks throw of Hwy 18, and 52 intersection..ride a boat in to a cave, for a half hr underground tour.
Most every town is trying to catch the leaf tour dollars in some way or another.
Guttenberg has their German fest this weekend also.
I live in Garnavillo, Iowa just ten miles north of Guttenberg, and we will all be waiting and watching for our toe nails to grow, and the cars to rust. Anything else in my home town is booooring.
Bagley used to be a real good place to hang out with out the wife---send her to Wal-Mart. I guess things have settled down, and the gals keep their clothing on since the bar changed hands a while back...........Not that I would ever have looked anyway.
