I'm in the process of trying to move the furnace in the basement of the house I'm living in and after disconnecting the pipe to the chimney I see there is about a 1" thick layer of soot, ash, and goodness only knows what else lying in the bottom of the exhaust that runs through the top of the furnace. Should I just suck this stuff out with a shop vac and worry no more about it or is this a problem? I usually stick with woodstoves so oil burners are new ground for me. Many thanks, Sam
