My problem was the jet in the very bottom of the carb was plugged. guys on this tractor page suggested that maybe the manifold was leaking and to point an unlit propane torch around the intake manifold to see if the engine speeded up. Could be either but make sure enough gas is getting to the carb thru the line first. Good luck and let us know how you made out. Dan J. i`ve had this problem before. i carry the carb to repair shop & have it soaked in some kind of acid bath. cleans right up
